SSC MTS Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions to apply for the SSC MTS exam:
1. Nationality / Citizenship
The candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
2. Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Standard) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board as on the closing date for receipt of online applications.
3. Age Limit

SSC MTS Pay Scale & Salary Structure
Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level 1 as per the 7th Pay Commission. The basic pay is Rs. 18,000, with additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA).

SSC MTS Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Examination (Paper 1) consists of two sessions. It is mandatory for candidates to qualify in both sessions.

SSC MTS Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the MTS and Havaldar posts is done through the following stages:
- Stage 1: Computer Based Examination (Paper 1) - Objective type multiple-choice questions.
- Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST) - Applicable only for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN.
- Stage 3: Document Verification (DV) - Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for document verification with their original certificates.
The final merit list is prepared based on performance in Paper 1 and the PET/PST (for Havaldar). The Commission's decision in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, and allotment of posts will be final and binding.
How to Apply for SSC MTS?
Candidates can apply online through the official SSC website. Follow these steps to successfully submit the application form:

- DOB Proof: Birth Certificate, School Leaving Certificate.
- Address Proof: Voter ID, Driving License, Bank Statement, Rent Agreement.
- Photo & Gender Proof.
Note: Non-Aadhaar candidates must report to the examination centre 2 hours before the scheduled time and carry original valid photo-ID proof with DOB printed on it.
Application Form Correction Window
After the closing date for receipt of online applications, the Commission provides a period of 3 days (from 29.07.2025 to 31.07.2025) to enable candidates to correct/modify their online application parameters. This facility can be availed by online payment of stipulated correction charges. The latest modified application will be treated as valid.
State/UT Preference
Candidates must be careful in giving preference of state(s)/UT(s)/CCA(s) while submitting the online application. A candidate will not be considered for a post and state(s)/UT(s)/CCA(s) if he does not indicate his preference for it. Preference once submitted shall be treated as final and will not be changed subsequently under any circumstances.
Debarment Rules & Penalties
The Commission may debar candidates for various malpractices. Key debarment periods include:
- Candidate acting as scribe in the same examination or providing false declaration: 3 to 5 years.
- Candidate/Scribe acting as ‘own scribe’ in the same examination more than once: 3 years.
- Scribe appearing for more than one candidate in the same examination: 5 to 7 years.
- During the exam, if the scribe is found independently answering questions: 7 years.
- Candidate applying with same photograph but different personal details across recruitments: 1 to 5 years.
The Commission may also report such matters to Police/Investigating Agencies and take appropriate action through forensic experts.
